Welcome to JOPLIN, MISSOURI!
 

 

Moving to a new city can offer so much excitement, change, and sometimes loneliness.

 

The JOPLIN AREA WELCOME CLUB has more than 80 members who have been through what you're experiencing now. We offer monthly get-acquainted coffees, luncheons at various restaurants, a monthly newsletter listing events, and many special interest groups.




 

JOPLIN AREA WELCOME CLUB OBJECTIVES:

 

  • To provide an opportunity for members to become acquainted with others in the community.
  • To increase members' knowledge of the community.
  • To aid our community through charitable and humanitarian projects.

 

The Club year is June through May. Most activities are held September-May with informal get togethers in the summer. All meetings and events are announced in the monthly newsletter and by local media publicity.

 

EVENTS

 

  • LUNCHEONS -- Monthly luncheons are held September through May. Usually the fourth Monday of each month. A program will be presented plus a business meeting. Informal luncheons are held the three summer months. Date, time, and locations are announced in the newsletter and through local media publicity.

     

  • COFFEES -- Meets Monthly. Usually the second Wednesday of each month. Date, time, place announced in the newsletter and local media publicity. Held at members' homes.

     

  • OUT TO LUNCH BUNCH -- Meets first Wednesday of every month at various restaurants in the area.

     

  • COUPLES GAME NIGHT -- At various times. Meets at various homes. Come play cards, board games, or whatever the group wishes. Join in the fun. (Singles also welcome.)

     

  • BRIDGE -- Afternoon, evenings, and couples groups available.

     

  • CANASTA -- Monthly playing of this fun card game at a members home.
  • HAND AND FOOT -- A fun card game played in a members home.
  • PINOCHLE -- Players meet monthly at a the home of a member for a fun card game.
  • CRIBBAGE -- Players meet at a members home for an afternoon of fun.

  • BOOK CLUB -- Members meet one afternoon a month to discuss a book chosen by the book club members.
     

  • BUNCO -- Monthly get-together for Bunco, a crazy game of dice, at a member's home.

     

  • CHRISTMAS COOKIE EXCHANGE- Members get together to exchange cookies and recipes.

     

  • DAY TRIP DIVAS -- trips in and around the 4-state area to museums, theaters and other attractions.

     

  • SUPER BOWL PARTY -- Each year at a member's home.
